“I have always been fascinated by drums and drumming ever since, at the age of three, my father presented me with an ancient bass drum, rescued from the back of a skip outside Boosey’s in Regent Street. A kettledrum has magical properties and the tonal nuances of newly mounted calfskin on hand beaten copper allow me to underpin the entire orchestra with a depth of sonority in a most satisfying way. I feel honoured to be associated with the AAM, especially now with Richard, whose driving force is propelling the orchestra to new heights.”
