The AAMbition Fund

A new orchestra was born
Monday 17 September 1973, 10.00am

Musicians gather at All Saints’ Church in Petersham, West London, for three days of sessions to record overtures by Thomas Arne. Under the direction of Christopher Hogwood, their approach was radical – they performed on period instruments using, as far as possible, the techniques that were current at the time of composition.

Over five decades AAM has brought joy to millions through countless performances and over 300 recordings, maintaining throughout a commitment to historically informed performance of the highest quality.  Now, as we look ahead to our next chapter, we invite you to support our 50th anniversary campaign, the AAMbition Fund.
The AAMbition Fund
The AAMbition Fund will:
  • Support the live performance of larger-scale and lesser-known repertoire
  • Enable the creation of the AAM A-list, a new catalogue of high-quality films that will be made available for free online, with repertoire to include much-loved favourites by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven alongside lesser-known works
How your support will make a difference

£50 could pay for an ‘urtext’ original Bärenreiter organ part for a Bach Passion

£500 could fund the creation of a score and parts for a Keyboard Concerto by Marianna Martinez

£5,000 could fund approximately five minutes of film featuring 30 musicians

£50,000 could fund a large-scale performance in the Barbican Hall
