We’re excited to share the details of our Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025.
At AAM, we believe that classical music played on period instruments, with historically informed techniques, brings a unique richness and character that modern practice simply can’t replicate.
This year, we’re putting that belief into action with a very special project: recording the only two works Mozart wrote for the basset clarinet – the Clarinet Quintet in A major K581 and the Clarinet Concerto in A major K622. Both pieces were written for Mozart’s friend, the clarinettist Anton Stadler, and we want to honour that legacy by performing them with a full period orchestra. The recordings will be released on AAM Records, with free digital access online so that everyone can enjoy them.
At the heart of the project will be our own Katherine Spencer, Principal Clarinet at AAM. She’ll be performing on a newly built instrument, based closely on Stadler’s original design, bringing a fresh and authentic voice to these iconic works.
We can’t wait to share more about this project – and how you can help us make it a reality.
