The Art of the Lute with Thomas Dunford

Virtuosic lutenist Thomas Dunford joins the Academy of Ancient Music to direct and perform an enthralling programme of Bach and Vivaldi. One of early music’s brightest stars, Dunford’s compelling, charismatic musicianship and exceptional technique has brought him countless accolades and collaborations with Iestyn Davies, Nicola Benedetti, Anne-Sophie von Otter, and Trevor Pinnock among other highlights.

In a programme showcasing the lute’s attributes as a solo instrument, hear the music of J.S. Bach, Buxtehude and Vivaldi, culminating in the latter’s glorious Concerto for Lute in D, RV93. Revel in this repertoire with one of the instrument’s most acclaimed interpreters, whom BBC Music Magazine crowned ‘the Eric Clapton of the lute’ following the launch of Dunford’s debut album release in 2013.
