Robert Hollingworth directs Purcell
Leading conductor and baroque interpreter Robert Hollingworth rejoins AAM to direct a programme of Henry Purcell. Hollingworth’s glittering career spans nearly 40 years of conducting vocal ensembles, most notably I Fagiolini, which he founded at university in 1986.
Featuring a veritable smorgasbord of Purcellian favourites, including the complete music to Oedipus Rex, selections from Dioclesian, Celestial Music , this is a celebration of one of the greatest and most influential English composers of all from one of Purcell’s leading interpreters, with Hollingworth infusing this performance with his signature balance of interpretive flair and rigourously informed analytical insight.
