Bach’s B minor Mass
Bach’s B minor Mass
Academy of Ancient Music joins the Chapel Choir of the Royal Hospital Chelsea at Cadogan Hall to perform Bach’s Mass in B minor
Completed in 1749, the year before Bach’s death, his B minor Mass represents the pinnacle of his career, magnificent in its scale: the chorus and soloists sing alongside an orchestra featuring trumpets, timpani, a horn and an extended wind section. The Mass includes Bach’s final pages of vocal music, the Et incarnatus est, placed alongside the Crucifixus, an arrangement from one of his earliest cantatas, composed in 1714.
